A new campaign is underway to re-open the Brooklyn War Memorial at Cadman Plaza Park.

The memorial, which has been closed to the public for 25 years, lists the names of more than 11,000 Brooklyn service members who died in World War II.

Funds donated online will be used to repair it.

Veterans we spoke with say they'll be glad to see it open once again.

"It's a shame that they let it get in disrepair. It's important to the current living people to see what happened in the past, history," one veteran said.

"Our children have to learn about the things the veterans have done for this nation, in their sacrifice to make this a great nation," said another.
