The Second Avenue Subway is starting to take shape and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is giving a sneak peek at construction inside the stations along the line.

New photos show what will eventually be the 72nd Street station.

Escalators can already be seen installed at the station, although they won't be ready to take riders to and from the platform for at least 20 more months.

Another shot of the 86th Street station shows ongoing heating and ventilation work being done.

The MTA hopes to open the first phase of the $4.4 billion project by December 2016.
