About 4,000 New Yorkers are lending a hand during a day of citywide cleaning Saturday.

Volunteers are helping bring new life to 71 parks and gardens around the five boroughs during the 21st annual New York Cares Day.

New plants are being planted and litter is being cleaned up in public spaces in the city to get parks ready for business as warm weather rolls in.

Among the day's projects is a massive restoration of Riverside Park, where around 200 people will help clean up the waterfront area and give lightpoles and fences a new coat of paint.
