Police are questioning a number of people about a shooting that killed a teenager at a Brooklyn housing project Friday night.

The NYPD says a 16-year-old boy died and a 13-year-old boy was hospitalized after they were both shot at the Marcy Houses complex in the Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Police say they responded to a reported assault at 626 Park Avenue just after 7 p.m.

Once officers arrived, they say they  found a 13-year-old boy with two gunshot wounds to the abdomen and to the leg, and 16-year-old Dantee Bascom of Brooklyn with a gunshot wound to the groin.

Bascom was transported to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bascom's father, Sherwayne Bascom, says he had had spent some time with his son yesterday afternoon.

He says Dantee was a good student and a loveable boy.

"He was always a good boy. I tried to keep him out of trouble you know. I just left him. He just came a took a shower at my house. I walked him up the block. I don't know what happened after 4:30, after I walked him up the block," he said.

The 13-year-old victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.

"I've seen people running in different directions. Police arrived, EMS arrived. A sad situation. Two young people were shot," said one eyewitness.

There was a large police presence at the complex late into Friday evening as they searched for the person or persons responsible for the shooting.

A group of young men was seen being escorted into police vans while handcuffed, but police did not identify any suspects or announce any arrests.
