A water main break caused some headaches for residents on the Upper West Side of Manhattan Wednesday evening.

The break happened around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at 96th Street and Central Park West.

A couple of buildings lost power and water.

The break caused traffic delays and disrupted subway service in the area.

"A lot, a lot of water," said one person in the area. "It was coming out of manhole covers, flowing out of manhole covers, coming down the sidewalk here. It was a lot of water."

"There's a lot worse things in life to worry about than having no water for a little bit," said another. "It's no big deal."

The Department of Environmental Protection said it was a small leak in a 12-inch water main.
