President Barack Obama has signed a bill to help give tax breaks to people who want to help the families of two NYPD officers killed in December.

The Slain Officer Family Support Act of 2015 extends the tax deadline for people donating to organizations supporting the families of Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.

Those people can now claim those donations on their 2014 returns. Normally, you would have had to donate by the end of last year.

The bill was authored by Reps. Hakeem Jeffries and Peter King in the House. Charles Schumer led the effort to get it passed in the Senate.
