An NYPD detective has been placed on modified duty after video surfaces showing him losing his temper on an Uber driver.

A video recorded by passenger Sanjay Seth shows NYPD Detective Patrick Cherry shouting at the driver.

Officer: "How long have you been in this country?

Driver: "Almost two years."

Officer: "Almost how long?"

Driver: "Two years."

Officer: "I got news for you, and use this lesson, remember this in the future: don't ever do that again. The only reason you're not in handcuffs going to jail, and getting summonses in the precinct, is because I have things to do."

Seth sounded off on twitter after testifying before the Civilian Complaints Review Board.

Seth claims Cherry tried to park his unmarked car and lashed out at the Uber driver after he gestured that the plainclothes cop should have used his blinker.

Following his testimony, Seth tweeted that he believes they are taking this complaint seriously and he hopes the resolution is quick and fair.

In a statement, Police Commissioner William Bratton said in part: "No good cop should watch that without a wince. Because all good cops know that officer just made their jobs a little bit harder. In that kind of encounter, anger like that is unacceptable. In any encounter, discourtesy and obscene language like that is unacceptable. That officer’s behavior reflected poorly on everyone who wears our uniform."

Earlier, Mayor Bill de Blasio said public servants should never use discriminatory language.

"All of us are meant to treat people respectfully. Obviously, our police play a particularly sensitive role and need to show respect for all people and that case will be followed up on," he said.

Uber issued a statement saying, "The behavior in the video is wrong and unacceptable and we appreciate the NYPD investigating the incident."

The Detectives Endowment Assocation said in a statement: "Det. Cherry should not be judged by this isolated event. He is a man of good character and an excellent detective. Everyone is capable of having a bad moment and it should not be blown out of proportion because he is a cop."

Cherry has been placed on modified duty and transferred.
