Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to put a quarter billion dollars toward his "Vision Zero" program aimed at reducing pedestrian deaths.

The city Department of Transportation is expected to announce a plan called "Vision Zero Great Streets" at a City Council budget hearing later today.

The plan calls for extended curbs, wider medians, and separate bike lanes.

The city is targeting four dangerous streets in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

About $100 million will be spent on improvements to Queens Boulevard, where dozens of people have been killed or injured in recent years.

The project also calls for adding more trees and benches to city streets.
