A beagle mix is in intensive care after he was rescued from a fire that took place in Queens Tuesday morning.

According to BluePearl Veterinary Partners Hospital, 1-year-old Duke was rescued by firefighters who found him alone at the home when they arrived at the scene of the fire.

The hospital says he was turned over to NYPD investigators after the firefighters couldn't locate the owner. The investigators then rushed him to the hospital.

A veterinarian with the hospital says Duke is receiving emergency oxygen.

The hospital says he has no visible burns and is responding well to treatment.

According to the hospital, Duke will be on emergency oxygen for at least one more day.

A webpage has been set up to assist Duke's owner with the cost of treatment. That webpage can be found here.
