Drivers are apparently ignoring the new speed limit, and getting caught.
The New York City Police Department says the number of speeding tickets has skyrocketed since the city lowered the speed limit from 30 to 25 last November as part of Mayor Bill de Blasio's vision zero campaign.
Police say about 29,000 summonses were issued from November through January.
That's up about 40 percent.
