A century-old Greenwich Village restaurant has reportedly closed down, but reports say it may not be gone for long.

Caffe Dante had been open on MacDougal Street since 1915, but its doors are now shuttered and padlocked.

The Italian eatery is famous for its espresso and pastries.

People in the neighborhood said it's upsetting to see it in its current state.

"Caffe Dante's been here a long time, and it's, it's sort of a staple of MacDougal Street and Greenwich Village, so it's always sad and bittersweet, when, things you grew up with, go away."

Fans of Caffe Dante can take comfort, though. Reports say its owner sold the business and that it will re-open in some form later this spring.
