Loved ones are mourning the death of a New York City Police Department detective after his car collided with another that was traveling the wrong way early Friday morning in Westchester.

Internal Affairs Bureau Detective Paul Duncan was heading to work on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh just before 4 a.m. when the crash happened.

Police say Efren Moreano, 20, was driving north in the parkway's southbound lane.

Duncan's widow, Rechelle, says the 17-year-NYPD veteran was a loving man, who was just 10 months away from retirement. She says he had even talked about starting a food truck.

"He was dedicated, thoughtful, he was disciplined, he thought he was funny. He was a sharp dresser, a really, really, really good dad, and a really, really good son," Duncan said.

Investigators say Moreano is being treated at Westchester Medical Center.

No charges have been filed at this time.
