The New York Daily News may be up for sale.

Mort Zuckerman, the owner and publisher of the paper, sent a memo to employees Thursday saying he was approached about a potential sale.

He did not say who the interested party is and his spokesperson had no comment beyond the memo. However, Zuckerman says he hired a financial advisory firm to help with the process.

In the memo, Zuckerman says, in part, "Although there were no immediate plans to consider a sale, we thought it would be prudent to explore the possibility and talk to potential buyers and or investors."
