A City Council member wants New York's Finest to embrace technology and ditch the typewriter.

Queens Councilman Daniel Dromm is set to introduce a bill that would phase out the NYPD's use of typewriters when filing many police documents.

He wants all the outdated equipment to be replaced with digital systems by next year.

The legislation was inspired by a district resident who said police misplaced the only copy of a typewritten criminal report in an assault case.

Precincts using the old machines also force residents to appear in person to process basic forms such as sound permits for a party, rather than submit them online.
