Concern over the Islamic State's reach and influence is growing after three Brooklyn men were arrested Wednesday on charges they plotted to join the terror group.

Two of the men appeared in Brooklyn Federal Court Wednesday afternoon while a third is being held without bail in Florida.

Prosecutors say the three men hit the FBI's radar this summer when one of them posted on a foreign website that he wanted to join the Islamic State, and asked about shooting President Barack Obama.

They also say the men planned to attack the city if they could not get to Syria to join the Islamic State.

Those plans allegedly included bombing Coney Island, as well as shooting police and FBI agents.

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton says the threat from the Islamic State's propaganda campaign is real.

"This is the concern about the lone wolf inspired to act without ever going to the mideast, or the concern of, once they get to the mideast, acquire fighting skills, capabilities, and then attempting to return to the country," Bratton said.

Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19, was arrested Wednesday at John F. Kennedy Airport.

Authorities say he planned to fly to Istanbul, then Syria.

Abdurasul Juraboev, 24, allegedly purchased a plane ticket for March 29 to join Islamic State fighters as well. However, defense attorneys are questioning the government's interrogation process.

"I know for a fact these two young men were detained by the FBI. They were interrogated without the benefit of counsel and we will have to, we have not had their statements produced to us. We don't know what they claimed to have said and we don't know the circumstances of those interrogations," said Adam Perlmutter, Saidakhmetov's attorney.

The third man, Abror Habibov, 30, is charged with helping finance the plot.

He was arrested in Jacksonville, Florida.

All three men are originally from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

They each face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
