If you're using Airbnb to rent out your apartment, a new court ruling could put you at risk of eviction.

A judge ruled that those living in rent-stabilized homes can't make money by putting their place up for rent on websites like Airbnb.

In the ruling, the judge said using a residential apartment as a hotel room and profiteering off of it is ground for eviction.

A spokesperson for Airbnb responded to the decision, saying it advises all hosts to review their local rules before they share their space.

The spokesperson also said the company believes smart limits on home sharing in rent-regulated apartments are needed.
