The city has launched a campaign to help residents sign up for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
More than 2,000 volunteers participated in a phone-a-thon in Brooklyn.
They reached out to over 200,000 New Yorkers in multiple languages to encourage them to claim their tax credits.
The $3.1 million campaign will invest money in 60 new tax education sites and launch a broad advertising campaign.
The city estimates one in five households are eligible to receive the earned income tax credit but don't claim it.
