New data show the city's infant mortality rate is the lowest it's ever been.

Health officials say there were 4.6 deaths per 1,000 babies born in 2013.

Compare that to the national average of 6 per 1,000 the year before.

The city number has dropped nearly 25 percent in the last ten years.

Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett says the mortality rates were nearly twice as much in poor neighborhoods.
