Domestic violence victims are getting another level of protection thanks to a ruling by a Queens judge.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says the decision allows victims of domestic violence to sign documents electronically before their attackers are released from jail.

He also says it will keep victims from having to travel around the city to sign documents with a pen.

In her ruling, the judge said legislation on electronic signatures is not necessary because the technology is now standard practice.

Brown issued a statement on the decision saying, "As advances in technology continually make it easier for prosecutors to bring batterers to justice, today’s ruling makes it that much easier for domestic violence victims to get justice as well."
