The New York City Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place Sunday inside a Manhattan Home Depot.

Investigators say Calvin Esdaile, 31, walked into the 23rd Street store around 3 p.m. Sunday and shot his supervisor, 38-year-old Moctar Sy, multiple times, killing him.

Esdaile then shot himself to death.

"You just heard two 'bang, bangs' and then everyone maybe thought something collapsed. And you heard two more bangs and everyone started running around, trying to find the nearest exit. And that's when I lost my dog and I was pushed to the back side of Home Depot. So, I ended up coming here looking for him and everyone was just standing out front," said one witness.

"It was just very scary when you heard the shots go off in a crowded store on a Sunday afternoon. It's terrible," said another witness.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

A spokesman for Home Depot says the company is deeply saddened by the shooting and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
