Congresswoman Claudia Tenney remained under fire Thursday during a stop in Onondaga County after recent comments she made on a radio show about mass murders and Democrats.

During that show, the host mentioned gun crimes in inner cities. Tenney responded, "It’s interesting that so many of these people that commit the mass murders end up being Democrats, but the media doesn’t talk about that, either."

That comment has brought on anger from many, particularly her opponent in the upcoming election, Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi. He has called on Tenney to appologize for her comment.

Tenney refused to give any comment at Thursday's news conference. She said she didn't want to draw the attention away from the discussion on tax reform, her purpose for a stop at Suit-Kote Corporation.

However, Brindisi continued Thursday to slam her comments as "shameful and embarrassing."

"This is not the kind of attention we want to be known for in this area. When you have a mass shooting like this, which is a national tragedy and people are mourning, to politicize this and to blame one side and to make those comments is just disgusting in my opinion," said Brindisi.

Following the show, Tenney said in a statement that she is "fed up with media and liberals attempting to politicize tragedies."

Brindisi says if she's fed up, she shouldn't participate in it.
