A City Councilman from Brooklyn is responding to a lawsuit alleging poor treatment of a former aide who has autism.

Vincent Gentile says he takes the matter seriously and is reviewing Michael Bistreich's complaint.

The Councilman's former legislation and budget director — who says he has Asperger's Syndrome — is suing him for $10 million.

Bistreich says Gentile shamed and degraded him during his time there from February 2014 until this past June.

In one instance, he says colleagues mutilated stuffed animals that he kept for comfort.

The City Council is also reviewing the lawsuit and says it has no tolerance for discrimination.
