IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The Bishop Kearney girls basketball team is prepare for the state semifinals for Class AA.

While some teams may overlook the Kings because they are young and fairly undersized, it’ doesn’t bother head coach Kevan Sheppard at all.

“If I’m the other team, I’m overlooking us too,” Sheppard said. “We definitely don’t pass the eye test. If you just come in the gym and you glance, you’re generally not picking us if you’ve never seen us play before. Outside of Saniaa, everybody is generally bigger than us, but I’m lucky and blessed to have very skilled players that play much bigger than their actual dize.

The Kings play Baldwin Saturday morning at 10:45 a.m. in Troy. Click here to find out how you can stream the high school basketball state championship games live.
