A new technique called scalp tattooing may help you improve your confidence and overall sense of wellbeing. Time Warner Cable News’ Kristen Shaughnessy explains in this Healthy Living report.

As men and women start to lose their hair, they often become self-conscious. There is a new procedure to change that.

"It looks incredibly realistic. And even if you start to lose your hair and you feel like you just want that nudge of confidence, this is a great thing to do," says professional stylist Jacqui Stafford.

Fabrice Condemi is a celebrity permanent makeup artist who has pioneered a way to stop the baldness. It is called scalp tattooing. A thinning head of hair can be transformed into what looks like a full head of hair within an hour or two. A completely bald head can give the illusion of a shaved head.

"It works like small dots, and the small dots look like you have hair," says Condemi. "I give you the illusion you have more hair there."

Unlike a typical tattoo, this type of tattoo is easy to take off if you ever decide you don't want it.

"It's possible to remove this in one session with the laser," she says.

Condemi says there will be some swelling and your head may sting for about a day, but overall it feels like the pinch of tweezers.

"It feels like you tweeze the hair," she says.

Prices range from $2,000 to $5,000, depending on how much of your head you want resculpted.

"He can help make men camouflage the loss of their hair. It's revolutionary and all the clients are loving it," says Stafford.

The scalp tattooing fades naturally and lasts about 10 years.
