Adam Balkin highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cell phone or mobile device in the weekly segment "App Wrap."

Yuvi

Using a child’s imagination in order to get him or her exercising, whether they realize it or no - that is the basic idea behind Yuvi.  Yuvi is this monkey, dog, character in overalls who has to find all of the toys in the world, which have been stolen by the evil wizard Zorkus.  Each episode of this ten episode story is a search in a different location for a different toy - all the balls are in Africa, the teddy bears are at the bottom of the ocean, etc. To help Yuvi, you have to do all of the same exercise moves that he does - everything from jumping jacks to yoga poses. The first episode in Africa is free. You can buy the other nine for about $8.  Yuvi is available as an app on iOS devices or can be streamed via a computer.

Boing

Boing uses one of the wow factors of a mobile device, augmented reality, to get kids up and moving. It is juggling, just like you would juggle a soccer ball or a hacky sack, only you do it virtually with this monster head. You point your phone’s camera down at your foot and the head falls virtually onto your foot. You have to kick up to see how many times you can juggle it.  The goal is to beat your best score or to beat a friend in head-to-head competition.  You can also practice with three other balls. Easy mode has you juggling a balloon, medium a soccer ball, and hard a hacky sack. Boing is an iOS app for $0.99.
