With dozens of fashion shows each day during NY Fashion week it can be hard to stand out, well that is unless you invite dogs and cats to show off couture looks. Need proof that people love their pets? NY1's Stephanie Simon has it at the NY Pet Fashion Show.

The top dogs of fashion week show off some "Shih Tzu Chic" at the NY Pet Fashion Show in midtown.

ZZ is a real pooch princess!

"On her worst day or my worst day she puts a smile on peoples face and she puts a smile on my face," said Ilene Zeins, ZZ's owner.

These pint- sized pups, dapper dogs, cool cats and two rats modeled the latest pet clothing designs to raise funds for animals in need. This year's theme is global style.

The event raises funds for The Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals. It also helps get rescue animals adopted.

"If we can dress them up if we can make them look really cool, really fun, like a Fashionista on the runway it changes the public perception of this," said Gregg Oehler, Chairman of the New York Pet Fashion Show. "We adopt dogs out of the show."

Dog lover and Professional Poker Player Beth Shak Leventhal was honored for her philanthropy.

"I think animals make people happy so I've always taken my time and my energy and thought it was important to give back," said Leventhal, who received a humanitarian award.

Former Bond Girl, Rachel Grant from the film 'Die Another Day' also walked in the show

"I love supporting shelters in New York and all over the USA and of the world really," Grant said.

And if you can believe it they were one human short, so I escorted Cocoa down the runway in her Wizard of Oz inspired gown. I love that because there is no place like home and this event will help more animals find one.
