The 76th Annual Tony Awards will not be televised this year due to the ongoing writers’ strike, according to sources.

The Tony Awards Management Committee sent a letter to the Writers Guild of America asking for a waiver to present the Tony Awards on CBS and the waiver was denied, sources say.

A meeting is planned for Monday with leaders in the theater community to see how things will move forward for this year's ceremony, according to sources.

Options under consideration include a press conference-style presentation of the awards in June.

The Tony Awards were originally scheduled to take place Sunday, June 11 with Oscar winner Ariana DeBose as the host, and held for the first time at the United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights.

The Tony Awards are co-presented by The American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.
