Imagine being accepted in to the school of your dreams, only to be told it was a mistake. That's what happened to nearly 300 people who applied to Columbia University.

The school is apologizing after they say emails sent Wednesday "incorrectly implied" prospective students were accepted to its School of Public Health's Masters program.

The University says it immediately realized the mistake and sent follow-up emails within an hour.

The vice dean for education says the school regrets the stress and confusion the mix-up caused.

They also say they're now strenghtening their procedures.
