Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a task force to overhaul the Common Core educational standards.

It includes parents, teachers, state education officials and members of the state Senate and Assembly.

They will review and reform Common Core where necessary and amend the state curriculum to match.

The task force will also address state testing and the controversial teacher evaluation system.

"New York must complete a transition into the modern education era, and this transition must happen in a way that instills confidence, and not anxiety, in our students and parents, and makes teachers feel supported and rewarded, not criticized," Cuomo said.

The task force will complete their report by the end of the year.
