The two candidates running for one of New York's seats in the U.S. Senate faced off Sunday night in a debate you saw on Time Warner Cable News.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- In New York's only chance to see the candidates debate, there was plenty of back-and-forth discussion. One of the topics was the FBI's latest investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server and potential new evidence coming from it.

Schumer continued to align himself with Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, while Long tried to tie Schumer to the alleged scandals.

"Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have called for those emails to be made public. I believe that's the right thing to do," Schumer said. "Mr. Comey first ought to make them all public, and second, he owes not only Secretary Clinton, but the American people, an apology for what appears to be an appalling action."

"If you find new evidence ... in this case, in the laptop of your old protege and friend Anthony Weiner ... I think it's the duty of the prosecutor to evaluate it," Long responded.

Also discussed: the U.S. Supreme Court. While Long signaled she has no problem with the block of President Barack Obama's current nominee, Merrick Garland, Schumer attacked her for that position.

"Name one previous Supreme Court justice who didn't get a vote in this amount of time. Name one," Schumer challenged. "You can't, because there isn't one."
