Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump continued his campaign to discredit a former Miss Universe winner, launching a Twitter tirade in the early hours of the morning, prompting Democrat Hillary Clinton to bait him even further. Bobby Cuza filed the following report.

Clearly, Hillary Clinton struck a nerve by showcasing Alicia Machado, the onetime Miss Universe who says Donald Trump shamed her for gaining weight.

Friday, Trump capped a week of lashing out with a series of tweets between 3:30 and 5:30 a.m., calling Machado disgusting and telling followers to check out her sex tape, perhaps alluding to an intimate, but non-explicit, scene in a 2005 Spanish reality TV show.

"His latest Twitter meltdown is unhinged, even for him," Clinton said. "I mean really, who gets up at 3 o'clock in the morning to engage in a Twitter attack?"

Trump later referenced a 2008 Clinton campaign ad in his own defense, tweeting:

Clinton, meanwhile, on Friday proposed tripling the AmeriCorps program, creating a national service reserves program modeled after the armed forces reserves and forgiving college loans in exchange for national service.

But she also continued baiting Trump, mocking him for not mentioning his proposed border wall in his meeting with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

"I love that he went down to Mexico and he choked," Clinton said. "He's been going around telling people for months, 'We're gonna build a wall, we're going to make Mexico pay for it.' So he's sitting with the president of Mexico, and he doesn't even bring it up."

Also Friday, a judge released video depositions in a lawsuit where Trump is asked about losing business deals after his comments about Mexican immigrants.

Q: Did it cause you any concern that all of these entities apparently wanted to distance themselves from you in the wake of your comments?
Trump: No, I'm a big boy. I understand.

On the plus side for Trump, he was vindicated Friday for his complaint about the microphones at Monday's debate, with the Commission on Presidential Debates saying in a statement, "Regarding the first debate, there were issues regarding Donald Trump's audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall." The issues, though, did not appear to affect the TV broadcast.
