With just two days before the New York primary, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump held his first campaign event in the city today.

Trump held a fundraiser at the Staten Island Republican Party's Lincoln Brunch in Bloomfield this morning.

The Manhattan businessman received the endorsement and an award from the New York Veteran Police Association.

Trump explained why he has campaigned in other parts of the state, but not his hometown, until today.

"I had rallies, the biggest rallies in New York, we had 21,000 people in Albany, we had…"

"That's not in  New York City," NY1's Grace Rauh said.

"Well, I'm going up to Poughkeepsie in a little while," Trump continued. "You know why, to be honest with you, because the polls are so good, and so strong, that I really wanna focus on areas where they know me, but they don't know me as well."

Trump also continued to blast the nominating process for presidential candidates in his party as rigged.

Polls show Trump has a significant lead over rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich. Trump is also campaigning today in the Hudson Valley.
