ROCHESTER, N.Y. — An undercover sting operation ended alcohol sales at two Rochester stores, for the time being.

The State Liquor Authority says the alcohol licenses for “Father Son Wine & Spirits” and Joeys Mini Mart on Scottsville Road are suspended.

Investigators say underage agents were able to buy alcohol at least twice, with just an RIT student ID card that doesn't have a birth date on it.

They say clerks would deny a sale if someone who did not look like a student was present, presumably to avoid getting caught.

Investigators say five underage students provided voluntary written statements admitting to buying alcohol at the stores in the past.

Other students told the liquor authority the stores' policies were common knowledge on campus.

The state liquor authority charged Father Son Wine & Spirits with six counts of sales to minors and Joey’s Mini Mart with three counts of sales to minors.

The suspension will remain in effect until it's changed by the liquor authority or a court.
