GENEVA, N.Y. — Geneva police are continuing to follow leads in connection with Tuesday's fatal shooting in the city.

Police say 38-year-old Pliekou Irvin Sr. suffered a gunshot wound to the chest around 9:40 p.m. near Middle and Exchange Streets.

According to officials, he was shot while sitting in an idle car with another person.

Irvin was taken to Geneva General Hospital, where he later died.

Police say they are following up on several leads and witness accounts.

Geneva police Lt. Matt Valenti said he believes this was an isolated incident.

Irvin leaves behind a wife and several children.

"He was a good person. He had a very sweet, kind spirit about himself. He loved his kids. He did a lot with his children," said Donna, White, a family friend.
