A driver who stole a AAA tow truck left a trail of destruction and injured three officers and at least one civilian, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Authorities arrested 26-year-old Christopher Ricks after they say he led police on a chase through Syracuse, damaging nine civilian vehicles, two city fire trucks, three police cars and three sheriff's vehicles.

Investigators say Ricks' last know address was the Rescue Mission, where the chase ended. He allegedly was kicked out, which they say prompted him to make a statement with the chase.

"You have someone that jumped into a vehicle, a very heavy duty vehicle, and is using it as a weapon, either against people or other property. And that obviously has very similar tones to what we just saw in New York City," said Onondaga County Sheriff Gene Conway.

Ricks is currently undergoing surgery for injuries sustained in the crash.

He has not yet been araigned, but preliminary charges include reckless endangerment, assault on an officer, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
