The Consumer Electronics Show out in Las Vegas is not officially underway, but that has not stopped loads of companies from starting to make some news out there. Time Warner Cable News’ Adam Balkin gives you a sneak peek at what is on tap for the coming week.
Marty McFly-like shoes from Digitsole that track your steps and yes, lace-up so to speak with the touch of a button on your smart phone; the iNail Intelligent printer prints images, any image you'd like, right onto your fingernails; an airbag for adventurous skiers from POC - CES Unveiled is the perfect prepper preview event for the largest consumer tech show in the world because it warms attendees to the idea that they should expect their future tech to be anywhere and in anything. Like the GoSun fuel-free solar grill.
“The product’s based on an evacuated tube which is similar to a thermos technology made of Pyrex glass,” says Patrick Sherwin of GoSun Stove. “Sunlight is tripled by bouncing off these parabolic reflectors and then sunlight is captured and heat is created inside the chamber.
Hydrao is an app controlled shower head that warns you when you're using too much water.
“When you select, you choose, for example, 15 gallons and it starts flashing at 15," says Gabriel Della-Monia of Smart ’N Blue.
Even adult beverages are getting a little more technologically advanced this CES. D-Vine is trying to do for wine what Keurig does for coffee.
You buy tubes filled with vino from independent wineries. Each is one serving. The machine reads a microchip on it to then determine the perfect temperature at which to serve it as well as how to perfectly decant it.
PicoBrew is a much quicker than normal at home microbrew system.
“There’s a barcode on there that it’ll read, so the machine knows what the recipe is,” says Alyshia Madlem of PicoBrew. “There’s a dial on the machine that allows you to do some customization so you can say, ‘I want this a little more bitter,’ or a little hoppier. And after about a week, you’ll have 14 bottles of beer you can drink."
Clearly, CES Unveiled is a happy hour, or two, in more ways than one for anyone interested in tech.
