The Art Dealers Association of America is holding their 27th Annual Art Show at the Park Avenue Armory on the Upper East Side, but you don't have to be an dealer to come enjoy the art. NY1's Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

It's a chance for some serious face time with great art.

Simon: We are standing right in front of a Basquiat painting that is very exciting.

Adam Sheffer, Chairman, The Art Show: Absolutely. It's an     extraordinary example of a Jean-Michel Basquiat-Andy Warhol     collaboration from 1984 to '85. A rare thing to see at an art fair this     week.

The ADAA Art Show is a big, beautiful art fair but still intimate, designed so you can talk with art dealers about the works on view and maybe take one home.

Simon: I love this aluminum sculpture. Tell me about it.

Sheffer: It's an extraordinary example by an artist named Alice Aycock.     She is a wonderful American artist based here in New York. You may     have seen her sculpture which lined Park Avenue last year.

There are 72 booths set up here. It's all very visual for kids and adults to enjoy, like this mini-exhibit of American artist Al Held.

"Al did these when he returned from Paris after he was there on the GI Bill," Sheffer said. "Clearly, he was influenced by Monet, seeing them in museums and working as an artist. He returned to New York and he couldn't afford canvas, so he did these on paper.

Navigating the art fairs  is even easier this year, thanks to maps, artist bios and images you can find online. But nothing can compare with seeing a great work of art in person.

"It allows you the chance to engage mentally and visually with a work that may be something that you feel absolutely attached to and engaged with, or it may be puzzling, but it's the process of deciding that I think is really wonderful," said Dorsey Waxter, president of the ADAA.

There is plenty of art, and there are plenty of art shows, to keep you busy. Click here for a wrap-up of Art Fair Week.
