After two bench-clearing brawls, the Yankees took the lead in the American League Championship Series with a 4-3 win over the Red Sox Saturday night.

In the bottom of the fourth inning of Game Three, after Pedro Martinez had hit Yankee Karim Garcia with a pitch, Boston's Manny Ramirez took exception to a Roger Clemens fastball that Ramirez felt was a little too close. Both benches emptied.

In the middle of it all, 72-year-old Yankee bench coach Don Zimmer went after Pedro Martinez, and Martinez pushed him to the ground. Zimmer was helped off the field, and although he was not seriously hurt, he was hospitalized as a precaution.

Hideki Matsui's fourth inning double put the Yankees in front to stay. Mariano Rivera pitched another flawless two-inning save.

Boston police are backing off previous statements that two Yankees will be charged for an incident late in Saturday’s game. In the middle of the ninth inning, Jeff Nelson was involved in an argument with a Fenway Park grounds-keeper that became physical.

Karim Garcia, then moved in from right field. Punches may have been thrown.

Yankees president Randy Levine called the incident a security breach that is "disgraceful and shameful."

Game Four is at 7:35 p.m. Sunday in Boston.

The Chicago Cubs, meanwhile, are one win away from their first trip to the World Series since 1945. In Game Four of the National League Championship Series Saturday, the Cubs got all the runs they would need in the first inning, when Aramis Ramirez hit a grand slam.

Ramirez also homered in the seventh en route to an 8-3 win over Florida.

The Cubs now lead the best of seven series three games to one, and they can finish off the Marlins Sunday afternoon.
