Spectrum News highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cell phone or mobile device in the twice-weekly segment "App Wrap."

Atomic Hangman

Hangman on a napkin at a diner is a fun way to kill some time. Hangman on your mobile device is a fun way to hopefully not kill your hanging man.

Atomic Hangman is played just like the old school game, only since you're playing on a device that allows for amazing graphics and animation and music, well, you can probably guess what's going on here. Each correct letter guessed is a sigh of relief to Hangy (I guess we'll call him). Guess wrong, though, and a string is clipped inching him closer and closer to the doom below. Guess too many and yep, there he goes.

There are a bunch of categories to choose your puzzles from: Arts and Literature, Entertainment, Geography, History, Science and Nature, and Sports. Each puzzle also comes with some interesting facts related to the answer. Atomic Hangman is a free app with ads just for iOS devices. There is also a $1.99 Atomic Hangman Jr. app, which is pretty much the same deal, but geared more towards kids.

Some are pretty easy, others not so much, so you can spend money buying clues or ask for help on social media. Right now, there are more than 200 famous faces in there for you to try to figure out.

Guessy Stars is a free app for iOS and Android devices.
