In this new App Wrap report, Time Warner Cable News' Adam Balkin introduces Google's new mobile app helps you take mobile photos of your printed pictures without the glare.

Remember pictures back when they were printed on paper? Do you have some, maybe albums full that you would love to get into your computer or phone? Well block off a weekend because Google has officially given you the tools to tackle that project.

It is a new app called PhotoScan. Sure, you could just use your phone’s camera to take pictures of your pictures, but there is an almost 100% chance that you are going to get at least a bit of glare.

What PhotoScan does is essentially take four digital shots of each photo; you follow the dots around, and then compile one finished glare-free photo. Once in your phone the image can then be shot over to Google Photos where, just like any digital photo you take, it can be categorized by who is in the shot based on image recognition.

PhotoScan is a free app out now for both Android and iOS devices.
