April 10th is a day Android phone users will want to keep an eye on. That’s the day the two competing devices that will most likely be duking it out for title of the hot Android phone of the year both hit shelves.

Developers of HTC’s One M9 say they designed it to look and feel kind of like a piece of jewelry, only in phone form. It is faster than previous models with higher quality sound, a sharper screen, and software upgrades like Sense Home.

“Your phone has so much information about you, where you are and everything so we’ve made the phone contextually aware. It’s intuitive. It knows if you’re home or at work and will serve up the applications you use most when you’re at home or you’re at work right up to the front of the screen," says Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America.

One of the most whiz-bang set of apps with the M9 are those that work with the new Dot View Case. With the cover closed, you can still see relevant information like time, temperature, alert - and, since its touch sensitive - you can also answer phone calls. You can play even a few games right on top of the case. The M9 will cost about $200 with a wireless contract. The Dot View Case will cost just under $40.

In the other corner is Samsung with its new Galaxy S6. Again, the S6 is faster than previous models, sharper and has better audio.  Among the new apps that’ll help set this one apart, Samsung Pay, which developers say will offer users more options than ever in the pay-with-your-phone space. The other new feature of the S6: an integrated wireless charging system that is designed to work with most wireless charging docks. In fact, Samsung even announced recently a partnership with Ikea which has agreed to start selling furniture with wireless charging stations built right in. The S6, when it hits shelves, will also cost $200 with a contract.
