Sometimes you feel like you need a cleansing shower. Maybe it's after a strenuous workout. Or a day at the beach. Or after sitting through an episode of MTV's “A Shot of Love 2” with Tila Tequila.
You can't help but feel a little dirty after watching this gratuitous raunch-fest. For those of you who have managed to shield your eyes from this disaster, here's what you've been missing: “Shot of Love” is a bisexual dating show, with internet sensation Tila Tequila looking for the right man -- or woman -- to become her significant other.
At first blush -- and you will blush while watching the show -- having a bisexual version of "The Bachelor" is an actually pretty interesting concept.
But that's before you meet the contestants, who set the intelligence level of both sexes back a few hundred years. They get naked, they get in pillow fights, they have food fights, they stuff funny money up their shirts, they proudly pass gas in front of each other, they drink booze at 10 a.m., they suck face -- and that's all in a single episode. It's as if “A Shot of Love” has the sole purpose is to one-up fellow sleaze-fests “Flavor of Love” and “Rock of Love.”
Of course, the show's star, Tequila, claims she really, really wants to find her soul mate -- a joke of a premise that every dating show puts out there, even though by now viewers should know better that the whole thing is a complete ruse.
But people don't tune in to “Shot of Love” to see which man or woman Tequila will choose. We all know that, ultimately, it doesn't really matter. No, they tune in to watch the debauchery from a comfortably safe, STD-free distance.
“A Shot of Love” may be a bit intoxicating in that regard, but like any good buzz, you may regret it later. Especially if you don't take that shower.
