Police were searching Tuesday night looking for the person who attacked a 16-year-old boy near Richmond Hill High School in Queens.
They said the 16-year-old was stabbed once in the abdomen Tuesday afternoon, but it is not clear if the victim is a student at the school.
Students said fights are a common occurrence in the neighborhood, but the stabbing has them on edge.
“It kind of got me a little bit scared, because I didn't know what was going on when I just came out of school. So I guess I'm scared,” said a student.
“I was actually in front of the school. I was walking down, and the whole crowd of kids just ran up and the security guard and police just came and ran to the kid and he was just lying on the floor,” said a second.
“You don't know who it is, you know? You don't know when it could happen. You don't know if any day it could happen to you,” said a third.
The teen was being treated Tuesday night at Jamaica Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
