Parking Rules To Be Temporarily Suspended In Park Slope, Brooklyn
May 13, 2008
The city aims to put the "park" back into Park Slope -- by temporarily suspending next Monday “alternate side of the street” parking rules in the Brooklyn neighborhood.
The move will give the Department of Transportation time to install signs with new street cleaning rules.
Under the new rules, many residential streets will be cleaned once a week instead of twice, and commercial areas will see more street sweepers than usual.
Also, "No Parking" times will be reduced to just 90 minutes.
The city hopes the new rules will free up more spaces for local drivers.
All the new regulations will not be enforced until the signs are in place.
Other parking rules, such as meters, are not affected by the temporary suspension.
Similar suspensions will take place in Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Red Hook later this year.
