NY1 VIDEO: Authorities are investigating the murder of a mother and daughter who were found dead in an Englewood apartment on Tuesday.
The body of Tammy Pitts Gaddy, 40, was found in the main floor of a West Palisade Avenue apartment with multiple stab wounds.
Her 3-year-old daughter, Natasia, were found in the basement.
"There was a plastic garbage bag found within a close proximity of the child's body. We believe the garbage bag may have been used to asphyxiate the child," said Englewood Police Chief Arthur O'Keefe.
By Tuesday night no arrests had been made, but Englewood police and the Bergen County Prosecutor Office said several people were being questioned.
Police said the homicides are the first ones to take place in Englewood this year.
