A local craft shop is getting ready to send some warmth to a family affected by the tragic school shooting in Newtown last month.

The employees at the Craft Lounge invited the community to the store Friday at 7:30 p.m.

They'll knit squares to be incorporated into a blanket that will be sent to Newtown.

Co-owner of the Craft Lounge, Kathy Pecht, says she was touched by the tragedy in Newtown, and is excited at the opportunity to send something handmade and meaningful to those families who are still grieving.

"I hope that they know that were sending out love and that they can be literally wrapped in something that we made with our hands," Pecht said. "So from our hands to their hearts."

On Feb. 22, they will assemble the quilt, then send it to a group called Knitters for Newtown, and then to the victim's families.
