The defending champion New York Giants fell 24-17 in their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys Wednesday night.

The Giants did not find the end zone until the third quarter when Ahmad Bradshaw scored on a 10-yard run.

But Tony Romo and the Cowboys amassed a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter that proved too much to overcome.

The Giants rallied late and cut the lead to 24-17 with 2:36 left but were unable to get the ball back as the Cowboys ran out the rest of the clock.

New York can't be feeling too down about the loss if history is their guide. They rebounded from an opening day loss to win the Super Bowl both last year and in 2007.
