Officials Search For Possible Stowaways At NJ Port

Authorities are working to inspect 200 cargo containers in Port Newark amid concerns there could be stowaways.
They are among the 2,000 containers aboard the ship Ville D'Aquarius.
The coast guard said during a routine inspection, officials reported hearing banging noises, but could not pinpoint the exact location.
The ship originated in the United Arab Emirates and also stopped in ports in India, Pakistan and Egypt.
"Anytime you have a situation like this, you're talking about the potential of someone trying to come into the country illegally and you're talking about the associated risk with that in terms of trying to enter the country illegally, what might you have," said Michael B. Ward of FBI New Jersey. "You're going to get a response like this anytime you have those types of facts."
Each container takes about 8 minutes to inspect, between removing it off the ship, opening it or X-raying it if necessary.
