New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to veto a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, after the New Jersey State Assembly passed legislation approving the measure Thursday.

The Senate approved it on Monday.

The bill moves to the governor's desk, but he has already promised to block it.

To override a veto, supporters would need to pick up significant Republican support, which is not expected.

Christie prefers to have the public vote on the issue.

Six states and Washington D.C., have legalized same-sex marriage.
