Some workers with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority are having trouble digesting a new policy limiting the amount of time they have for bathroom breaks.
A memo issued earlier this month telling station booth clerks they only have 10 minutes to go to the bathroom and get back to their booths.
The union representing station workers argues the directive is unfair since it takes several minutes to get to the nearest bathroom in some stations.
The Transport Workers Union has reportedly filed a grievance with a contract arbitrator.
The MTA tells NY1 it issued the memo after learning some workers had been leaving the booths on what were supposed to be bathroom breaks to move their cars to avoid parking tickets.
An agency spokesperson says the memo is more of a guideline rather than a hard and fast rule.
